Introducing the RuggedCell® Savings Calculator

One of the most common questions we hear from customers and partners is: "How much can the RuggedCell® save me over the lifetime of my project?"
We created a tool that answers exactly that – the RuggedCell® Savings Calculator.
The RuggedCell® Savings Calculator lets you input your electrolyzer capacity and instantly see the estimated total OpEx savings over a 20-year project lifetime — broken down by stack replacements avoided and energy efficiency gains from our ultra-low degradation rate.
Introducing the RuggedCell® Savings Calculator. No forms. No calls. Just move the slider and see the numbers for yourself.

Here's what makes the savings calculator worth a look:
🔹 Instant results for systems from 1 MW to 500 MW
🔹 Clear breakdown of stack replacement costs eliminated
🔹 Direct impact of 0.25%/yr vs. conventional system degradation rates
🔹 Transparent assumptions you can review with one click
This tool was built because our customers wanted a fast, straightforward way to model the economic advantage of a stack that doesn't need replacing. We listened.

A Primer on Water Electrolysis Project Costs
Electrolyzer CAPEX – the initial sticker price of a clean hydrogen facility – is often the starting point for cost discussions by project developers. Increasingly, however, their focus is moving to the Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH), calculated over a typical 20-year project lifespan.
This growing awareness of long-term costs as a key consideration underlies our initiative to develop the RuggedCell® Savings Calculator. The importance of electrolyzer degradation and stack replacement to project cost calculation was explored in our February 4, 2026 post, “The Hidden Cost of Hydrogen: How Electrolyzer Degradation Reshapes Project Economics”.
The discussion generated by that post, along with the scarcity of easily accessible ways to compare costs, is what inspired us to develop the cost calculator. As we noted, “Electrolyzer stack degradation is not just a technical maintenance issue; it is a silent financial leak that can swing a project’s Net Present Value (NPV) by tens of millions of dollars.”
We encourage you to keep this in mind as a central focus of your project development process, and to consider the full picture when assessing the technology alternatives - PEM vs. Alkaline vs. Advanced Alkaline Unipolar such as the RuggedCell®.
